Jake and Janelle started Millstream Home after realizing they had little from their Amish childhoods to pass down — so they drove Pennsylvania back roads hunting down makers still using old production methods. The result is a line of things made in someone's shop or shed by people who know their craft: basket weavers, quilters, blacksmiths, candlemakers. This basket comes from Amish weavers in Pennsylvania who work with seagrass roping, wood, willow, and reed. Full-grain leather handles, solid brass hardware and nameplate. Every stitch and rivet overseen by Jake and Janelle, who care about things that last long enough to become heirlooms.
You'll bring it to the farmer's market once, maybe twice, then it'll spend six months holding throw pillows before migrating to the entryway where it becomes the official landing zone for keys, sunglasses, and that one glove nobody can find the match for. Eventually someone will fill it with pinecones for fall, then forget to empty it until spring when the pinecones have achieved a kind of permanent-resident status and removing them feels rude.
