Studio Neat — founded in 2010 by designers Tom Gerhardt and Dan Provost — built their reputation on making simple, useful things that solve problems without fuss. They launched their first product, the Glif, on Kickstarter back when almost nobody had heard of the platform, exceeding their goal by over 10× and setting a new standard for what a crowdfunded consumer tech product could be. They've been profitable since day one, operate out of Austin, and have no interest in venture funding or acquisition. Their philosophy, borrowed from Walt Disney: make money to make more products, not the other way around. The Mark Two follows that principle. Custom machined from stainless steel with Cerakote coating on the sleeve and clip. Measures 88 mm sleeved, 130 mm posted when the cap's on the back end. Posts magnetically, so no threads to fumble with. Includes a Schmidt P8126 mini rollerball refill and works with D1 refills if you use their custom adaptor. The sleeve has a slightly textured matte finish; the body's polished smooth. Weighs 38 grams, which is just enough to remind you it's in your pocket without dragging your shirt collar sideways.

First week you'll carry it around clicking the cap on and off magnetically because the snap is satisfying and you're easily pleased.
