Jake grew up Amish in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — farm work, one-room schoolhouse, horse and pony for transport. Janelle came from a family of eight with deep Amish roots. When they started their own family, they realized they had almost nothing from childhood to pass down, so they spent early 2016 driving back roads looking for craftsmen still working the old ways. Millstream Home designs things local makers can build by hand — baskets, quilts, toys, candles, brooms — each piece made in someone's shop or garage turned craft room. This basket comes from Amish weavers in Pennsylvania. Seagrass roping, wood, willow, and reed. Full-grain leather handles, solid brass hardware and nameplate.
