Every backyard has its own airspace, and children have always known this without needing to be told. We chose this trainer airplane because it turns that invisible sky into somewhere you can actually go—up over the fence, banking left past the oak tree, landing (or crashing, then fixing, then flying again) in the wide open gravity of learning something hard. The Falcon 800 is a pusher-prop design built for new pilots: durable plastic fuselage on a fiber rod frame, impact-absorbing nose cone for the inevitable meetings with earth, 180-size motor with rechargeable battery, and a 35-inch wingspan that gives it real presence in the air without requiring a football field to operate. It arrives almost ready to fly—ESC, motor, and radio system installed.

It will spend its first afternoon being named something like Thunder or Sky Captain. By the second flight someone will announce revised landing procedures involving a count of three and closed eyes. By the third, you'll both be arguing about whether that last one counted as controlled or just lucky, which is how you know it's working.
