Before anyone learns to pedal, there is the small, perfect freedom of coasting—feet dragging on the ground, steering around corners, finding balance without being told how. We chose this balance bike because it turns that first sense of independence into something solid and beautiful, something that feels like an heirloom even while it's being ridden hard through the yard. The frame, fork, and handlebars are steel. The saddle and grips are leatherette. The tires are Michelin rubber. The design draws from Streamline Moderne—curved structures, horizontal lines, the kind of quiet elegance that belongs to mid-century modernism and doesn't shout about it. It has no brakes, which is how balance bikes work: children slow themselves with their feet, learning control before they learn coasting. It will carry someone from three years old to five, adjusting as they grow, collecting scuffs and stories along the way. By the time it's passed on, it will look like it has been somewhere important.
Hand it over and someone will spend the first afternoon naming it. The second afternoon will involve a lap around the driveway that turns into four laps because the route keeps changing for reasons involving a stick that must come along. By the third day you will be told, solemnly, that this bike goes faster than yours.
