A dozen little wooden balls, and almost no instructions. Roll them, sort them, make patterns, build tiny worlds around them—or watch a child come up with something much better. We chose these because they’re wonderfully simple: the kind of toy that gives a child pieces instead of telling them what to play.

Made from sustainable rubberwood in six gentle colors, they feel lovely in little hands and somehow end up becoming everything from treasure to pretend food to very important cargo for a toy truck. At least one will probably roll under the sofa and become lost to civilization for a while. That seems to be part of the game.
